How to avoid SPAM!!!

I just recieved the following e-mail...

Our main competitor, Nokia, is giving free mobile phones away on the Internet. Here at Ericsson we want to counter their offer. So we are giving our newest WAP-phones away as well.

All you have to do, is to forward this message to 8 friends. After two weeks delivery time, you will receive a Ericsson T18. If you forward it to 20 friends, you will receive the brand new Ericsson R320 WAP-phone. Just remember to send a copy to Anna.Swelund(at)ericsson.com - that is the only way we can see, that you forwarded the message.

attached is another "professional looking hoax'"!

the funny thing about the attached hoax is that Sony Ericsson don't even MAKE LAPTOPS!

SHEEZ.. if somebody sends me ONE MORE CHAIN MAIL!!!

Interesting info, Jokes, Video's, Photographs are fine... and obviously personal e-mail...

as for the rest...

1. Forwarded Good mornings and how are you's... are not personal... so don't send them!

2. Get stuff for free... IS ALWAYS A HOAX!!! ALWAYS!!!

3. Forward and we will donate... ... IS ALWAYS A HOAX!!! ALWAYS!!!

4. Petitions... ... IS ALWAYS A HOAX!!! ALWAYS!!! ... Kids and spammers use it as a joke to spam other ppl's inbox with millions of mails.

For all of the above and more...

1. There is NO KNOWN WAY to track how many ppl you send e-mail to. Spammers know how to tug your soft heart strings and get what they want out of you!

2. Whenever you forward e-mail... it will eventually land in a spammers inbox and then he has ALL THE MAIL addresses that he neads... Go to any e-mail that you've recieved and you will be able to pick up alot of e-mail address by either reading the mail or by looking at the top in the header. If you using gmail.. simply click "show details" on the top of the page.

3. Companies and donation funds will NEVER use chain mail for marketing... never have and never will! .. in fact i think it's illegal.. but i stand corrected on that one...

4. As for petitions... Only ONLINE petitions are valid... NEVER EVER chain mail petitions... if the petition is valid then they will direct you to a valid site where you can make your mark... be warned tho... look at the link... and don't ckick it if you get it via mail... unless it's from a trusted friend that knows what he/she is doing! otherwise.. retype the link in a new window of your browser and make sure that the word is spelt correctly... this is known as phishing...

www.fn6.co.za ... where as it should actually be www.fnb.co.za. so if you click the link, it will take you to the fake site and they get all the information from your keyboard... BUT if you TYPED www.fn6... and realised that that's wrong then changed it to www.fnb.co.za then you will be ok, cause FNB spends MILLIONS a month making sure that if YOU got to www.fnb.co.za then you won't be attacked by hackers! same applies for most Banks.

For a legitimate petition here is an example...

http://www.PetitionOnline.com/ELGP2008/

this is to save the East London Grand Prix circuit by the way... actually a good cause!

5. As for Christian, Feel Good etc. e-mails.. some of them are really nice but PLEASE remove EVERYBODY else's e-mail address in the message when you forward it. I don't wnat YOU to forward MY E_MAIL address to waiting spammers!

If in doubt... GOOGLE IT, and become informed.. or simply...

JUST DON'T SEND IT!!!!
