GPS navigation for S.A.

Was reading a post by jaap about the LACK of decent google maps for South African's on the iPhone. actually lack of google maps for south africa.

This whole blog is about mobility and photography and cellphones so thought it appropriate to share a little jewel I just recently discovered. AMAZE GPS... It's a simple program that works so unbelievably well it's actually quite AMAZING! ;)

I downloaded it to my phone... was about a 640kb download and then it downloaded a few voice navigation files... in total about 1 meg... i.e. R2.00 for us South Africans! and there i was set for turn by turn navigation in this very country SOUTH AFRICA!

ABSOLUTELY FREE... obviously having free things means having advertising... but hey.. the service works and it DEF's works on my Sony Ericsson c702.

The c702 comes with wayfinder navigator integrated into the phone as well as a tracker program that is able to keep track of your routes you run or cycle which is really awesome! but... it's always nice to muck around with other applications and see what's out there.

I stumbled across Geocaching back in 2005 and thought it interesting but didn't have a GPS at the time! now I realise.. you don't really NEED a GPS... but never-the-less... A public holiday was dawning upon me and I figured that I'd like to take my seriously HOT girlfriend out and about and do something different! I had just recently aqcuired a really awesome phone... C702! and it has GPS on board. I remembered about geocaching and looked it up.. signed up and went out the next day (the public holiday) to go find our very first cache! needless to say, I had NO IDEA what I was even looking for. The closest cache that I could find(with my limited knowledge) was panorama medi-clinic hospital in Cape Town(GC1TMQ3)... so off we set.. two adventurers not knowing where we'd end up. We arrived at the place... I checked on Google maps as I didn't have geocaching software on my
